Morning Light and Historic Charm

Emily and Scott began their day in a coastal Airbnb loft perched above the historic Freestone’s building on William Street in Downtown New Bedford. The loft’s soaring ceilings, original mill windows, and warm blend of vintage and modern design filled their late morning with soft, natural light and an intimate atmosphere.

Outside, the iconic cobblestone streets, historic facades, and the salty harbor air wrapped the moment in a uniquely New Bedford embrace—one that is impossible to replicate anywhere else.

Bridal Portraits

Natural, warm lighting is paramount for bridal portraits. This not only helps to better capture every detail of the dress, but also to convey the warm, fuzzy feelings before the ceremony.

Groom Portraits

Groom posing is often characterized by a refined nature and quiet confidence. These small moments of reflection will make the day more memorable when looking back on the photography.

Pre-Ceremony Portraits

Choosing a location with large windows is always a bonus when planning the photography before the ceremony. Airbnbs or hotels with features like those showcased here make for bright, true-to-color portraits.

A First Look Steeped in Local Soul

One of the most treasured moments came during their first look at Pier 3, a quintessential New Bedford location alive with the buzz of fishermen repairing boats, the cackling of seagulls, and the unmistakable scent of the sea. Here, Emily and Scott shared a private moment that felt as authentic and enduring as the harbor itself.

The Waterfront Ceremony at Kilburn Mill

Their ceremony unfolded at Kilburn Mill, a breathtaking Southcoast wedding venue that boasts panoramic views of Blue Lane, the Hurricane Barrier, and Clark’s Cove. As a photographer, I was captivated by the waterfront scenery showcased behind them in their photos.

A Warm, Vibrant Occasion

The décor reflected Emily and Scott’s coastal cocktail wedding theme—a sophisticated blend of bright wildflowers and classic blue toile accents. Tables were dressed with vibrant blooms arranged by the talented Pranzi Events and Catering team, whose impeccable attention to detail extended from florals to the thoughtfully curated menu.

Adding to the evening’s magic was the Sugarbabies Band, a live ensemble composed largely of Berklee College of Music alumni. Their dynamic setlist spanned classic soul, Motown, pop, and hip-hop, providing soft acoustic melodies during cocktail hour and igniting the dance floor later with infectious energy.
